Course Objectives

 
By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Enumerate the difficulties that come with attempting to define the parameters of the ancient Greek world
  • Explain why the idea of ancient Greece continues to be important in the 21st century
  • Read ancient documents carefully so that you can analyze the biases and problems that ancient documents present for historical interpretation
  • Articulate the role played by non-elite individuals and their larger importance to Greek
  • Make broad connections between the past and present day and present them to the public in a digestible form
